Culture: Black Fine Art Expo
October 2, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm
KBK Foundation is a 501(c) organization founded in 2010 with a mission to support Economic Development,
Community Development, Social Services, and the Arts in the communities that we serve. KBK Foundation is
committed to “bridging today’s realities with tomorrow’s possibilities.” As it relates to Black Art, we believe
it tells our authentic narrative. Supporting Black Art and Black Artists will help to produce positive images of
the Black community thus leading to the resistance of race-based negativity and biases.
KBK Foundation has initiated the Culture: Black Fine Art Expo to showcase the importance of Black Fine Art
as an investment and as an expression of Black culture. KBK Foundation has selected several reputable
galleries and purveyors of Black Fine Art from around the country to participate in our second Black Fine Art
event and the first annual Culture: Black Fine Art Expo. Also, several African American artists will be
involved to showcase their latest artwork. There will be multiple lectures at this event to educate the
community about Black Fine Art including collecting art, portfolio development, appraisals, and other
aspects of this segment of visual art.
The Ohio State University is the Strategic Partner for this event. The Ohio State University has a long history
supporting Black Fine Art: The Frank W. Hale, Jr. Black Cultural Center has one of the largest collections of
Black Fine Art in the country. Samella Lewis, the first Black PhD in Fine Art in the country, earned her PhD at
The Ohio State University. The Ohio State Strategic Partners involved are committed to furthering the
exposure of Black Fine Art throughout Ohio’s 88 counties, surrounding communities, and beyond through
the Culture: Black Fine Art Expo. The Culture: Black Fine Art Expo is KBK Foundation’s Signature Event. KBK
Foundation’s long-term vision is to expand this event to other strategic locations and to include other
expressions of Black Art in the future.
The Culture: Black Fine Art Expo has received support from various corporate and individual donors who
have joined KBK Foundation in this effort. The Culture: Black Fine Art Expo is open to the public for a
nominal price and will take place September 30th through October 2nd.
A special appreciation to this year’s curators, nationally renowned artist Stuart McClean as National Curator
& Art Director and Lyn Logan-Grimes as Local Curator.
