KWANZAA 614
Kwanzaa is a 7 day celebration that honors community, family and heritage of African American culture and African traditions. Kwanzaa comes from the Swahili word that means “first harvest” and is based on the principles of Nguzo Saba.
Activities at the King Arts Complex will only be held on December 29th.
The Ujamaa event at the King Arts Complex with be part of events that are taking place throughout the community.

DEC. 26
Ohio History Center • 4 PM – 8 PM
Celebrate the first day of Kwanzaa at the Ohio History Center in partnership with Tawi Family Village, celebrating the first principle, Umoja (Unity).
DEC. 27
Columbus Metropolitan Library: Martin Luther King Jr Library Branch • 2 PM –3 PM
Celebrate the second day of Kwanzaa with a tea hosted by Urban Strings. Celebrate the second principle, Kujichagulia (self-determination).
DEC. 28
Broad Street Presbyterian Church • 4:30 PM –7:30 PM
Celebrate the third day of Kwanzaa, hosted by the James Preston Poindexter Foundation, celebrating the third principle, Ujima (collective work and responsibility).
DEC. 29
King Arts Complex • 4 PM – 8 PM
Celebrate the fourth day of Kwanzaa, Ujamaa (cooperative economics) at the King Arts Complex, cohosted by the King Arts Complex and the Lincoln Theatre.
DEC. 30
The fifth principle of Kwanzaa, Nia, is the principle of purpose. We encourage you to gather with your family to celebrate this night.

Celebrate the sixth day of Kwanzaa at the Ohio History Center in partnership with Tawi Family Village, celebrating the sixth principle, Kuumba (creativity).

is the principle of Imani (faith). We encourage you to gather together with your family to celebrate the final night.
