During the week of December 26, 2017 to January 1, 2018, there will be a multitude activities and events held that celebrate the principles of Kwanzaa. Also, on the website are opportunities for you to submit the name of a community member to be honored during this years celebration. Vendors can apply to be apart of the Vendor Marketplace, you can place an Advertisement or Acknowledgement in the 51st Annual Kwanzaa Souvenir book or donate to this years Citywide Kwanzaa Celebration.

Principle of the day Umoja – Unity
The Citywide Kwanzaa Celebration will begin each night with a Drum call at 6:00pm.
Followed by Lighting the Kinara – A Celebration of the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa.
The Mifflin Middle School Choir will lead us in singing the Black National Anthem.
Then we will recognize and honor Marriage and Families our community.
In celebration, there will be a Dance Performance by GOREE Drum and Dance.
There will be a message from Dr. Maulana Karenga, Founder of Kwanzaa.
The Main Event for the evening will be the spectacular “King and Queen Fashion Show” by Queen Fatimah Chui.
Also, the Beatty Collection will be on display in the Elijah Pierce Art Gallery.
Look forward to participating in the Vendor Marketplace, Line Dancing and Community Celebration.

During this Zawadi event families will enjoy cultural expression through storytelling, dance and the arts.
Children will make either a table drum, or an African doll, or have their pictures taken and make a personalized greeting card with a Kwanzaa message.
Come out, create, and celebrate the principles of Kwanzaa!
