World Sickle Cell Diversity Blood Drive Day

June 19, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

June 19 is World Sickle Cell Day and your blood donations play a critical role in helping people with sickle cell disease, the most common genetic blood disease in the U.S. Sickle cell disease primarily affects people who are African American or of African descent.  A single patient with the disease my need up to 100 units of blood each year to treat complications.

It’s essential that patients with sickle cell disease receive a compatible blood match from someone of the same race or similar ethnicity.  You can give someone living with sickle cell disease the strength to continue their fight.

The American Red Cross is experiencing a severe blood shortage as the number of trauma cases, organ transplants and elective surgeries rise – and deplete the nation’s blood inventory. The shortage of all blood types, including the emergency need for type O blood and platelets.

Without you, volunteer donors, we’re not able to meet patient’s blood needs.  Someone needs blood every two-seconds!

Thank you for your continual support, donating blood helping to save lives for those who need blood products daily.
