SUMMARY:Ryan Speedo Green
DESCRIPTION:At age 12\, Ryan Speedo Green was locked up in Virginia’s juvenile institution of last resort. At age 24\, he was onstage at the Metropolitan Opera\, competing in the Met’s annual contest to find the most promising young singers in the nation.\n\nThe story of Green’s journey will be told in song\, in dramatic reading\, and in conversation between Green and Daniel Bergner\, author of The New York Times bestseller Sing for our Life. It’s a spectacular narrative about the power of art and the possibility of transforming how we think about race in America.\n\nThis performance is graciously underwritten by Johanna DeStefano.\n\nEvent link will be sent to all ticket holders prior to the performance.

SUMMARY:Young Filmmakers Project: Presented by Siriah Miller
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted to make a film? Once you learn how\, then you’ll have the creative control to make one! The Young Filmmakers Project is a hands-on course where students learn the nuts and bolts of film production at one of Columbus’s iconic arts institutions. In the process\, our young filmmakers will write\, direct and produce a short film.\n\nAll teens 13-18 years old who are interested in making movies are welcome — NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! Learn professional script writing\, directing\, filming\, and editing! Collaborate with fellow aspiring filmmakers to write a screenplay\, direct actors\, film\, light and record audio on your very own film. The King Arts Complex has partnered with local Independent Filmmaker\, Siriah Miller\, to produce a professional short film. Participants of the Young Filmmakers Project will have a budget and access to professional film equipment. By the end of the program\, every aspiring artist will be have the official title of Filmmaker and a project of their very own to add to their reel.
