This program\, thanks to our community of public and private support\, is provided at no cost to you. The After School Program will follow the schedule of Columbus City Schools’ calendar. \nParticipants will be engaged in three different classes\, including Film\, Dance and Spoken Word. There will also be a homework/study hour with a tutor\, and a light snack provided. The session will conclude with a project combining all the artistic disciplines. \nAll participants must submit a registration form on or before the first day of the program. DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted to make a film? Once you learn how\, then you’ll have the creative control to make one! The Young Filmmakers Project is a hands-on course where students learn the nuts and bolts of film production at one of Columbus’s iconic arts institutions. In the process\, our young filmmakers will write\, direct and produce a short film.\n\nAll teens 13-18 years old who are interested in making movies are welcome — NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! Learn professional script writing\, directing\, filming\, and editing! Collaborate with fellow aspiring filmmakers to write a screenplay\, direct actors\, film\, light and record audio on your very own film. The King Arts Complex has partnered with local Independent Filmmaker\, Siriah Miller\, to produce a professional short film. Participants of the Young Filmmakers Project will have a budget and access to professional film equipment. By the end of the program\, every aspiring artist will be have the official title of Filmmaker and a project of their very own to add to their reel.

DESCRIPTION:Download registration form:\nhttps://kingartscomplex.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/SOAR-Registration-Form-20-21-Hip-Hop.pdf \nWhat is Soar on Saturdays?\nSoar on Saturdays is a dance access program that provides young students the opportunity to explore movement over the course of a free six-week dance class. Classes meet once a week. At the end of each six-week session\, parents are invited to watch their child participate in class. (To protect the privacy of the other dancers\, we ask that parents do not video record the computer screen.) Class size is limited to 15 students. Registration will be based on a lottery system. Everyone who registers by the due date (the Tuesday before the session begins) will be entered into a lottery. Students whose names are drawn will be invited to participate in the session. Students whose names are not drawn but who show interest in future sessions will be automatically entered into those lotteries. \nFrequently Asked Questions \nWho can participate in Soar on Saturdays?\nChildren ages 8-12 who are not already enrolled at BalletMet. No previous dance training is necessary. \nWhere and when is Soar on Saturdays?\nDue to COVID19\, we are unable to host in-person sessions. All classes will take place through Zoom. Students who submit the release form will receive a Zoom link to participate on Saturdays from 3-4pm or 4:30-5:30pm. \nHow do I register my child for Soar on Saturdays?\nPlease complete the Registration Form and return to BalletMet via mail at 322 Mount Vernon Avenue\, Columbus\, OH 43215\, email at education@balletmet.org or fax at 614-224-3697. DESCRIPTION:Black Arts Movement summer camp is a 6-week\, all-virtual program. \nThis summer’s theme is 5 Elements of Hip-Hop. \nWith the incorporation of the elements of Hip Hop; MCing (oral)\, Turntablism or DJing (aural)\, B-boying (physical)\, Graffiti art (visual) and Knowledge of self\, youth participants\, also known as King’s Kids\, ages 5-13\, will be exposed to the artist\, works and mediums of this era and explore the impacts of Hip Hop to this day. In addition to these various art forms\, youth will also engage in yoga\, dance\, visual art and so much more. \nProgramming Dates: June 15th- July 24th\, Monday- Friday \nRegistration fee: $25 for each child. Each registered child will receive a tablet for online programming. We can also provide assistance with WIFI if needed. \nScholarships: We have limited scholarships available that are household income-based\, and benefits based.
