MLK: 50 Years Later — 60 Seconds for Peace

  • Start: April 4, 2018 7:00 pm
  • End: April 4, 2018 7:30 pm

Wednesday, April 4, 2018, 7:01 PM EST

60 Seconds of Peace is a global initiative to inspire one minute of peace and reflection on the exact moment when 50 years earlier the world lost Dr. King.

At 6:01 PM CST on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, we ask that all participants take a moment for peace and goodwill wherever they are across the world. Participants are encouraged to be creative in how they observe this minute, doing a good deed, uniting with others in the community, or countering negativity with positivity.

Arts programs and peaceful demonstrations using the slogan 60 Seconds of Peace will have the opportunity to be part of a planned documentary exploring the legacy of Dr. King, civil rights, and social justice.

Organizations and artists wishing to participate are asked to submit contact information and observation ideas to The King Arts Complex by March 23, 2018, and to use the #mlk50 in promotion on social media.

60 Seconds of Peace exemplifies Dr. King’s “Dream” of every human coming together for peace, love and understanding. We ask participants capture 60 Seconds of Peace in action via video and share their footage with The King Arts Complex by May 17, 2018.

This project was supported by PNC Arts Alive.
