Family Time Initiative

Family Time Initiative is a free weekly evening program designed to educate, empower, and strengthen families to make healthier choices by bringing awareness to the richness of local resources and the African Diaspora.
In partnership with The King Arts Complex, The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship Program, GOREE Drum and Dance, The Ohio State University and other local organizations, this program seeks to give families a central time and location to spend quality time with each other, build relationships, become culturally aware, and to gain knowledge and tools by participating in cooking/nutrition classes, cultural/community activities, and African Dance for both parents and children. The program will be held on Thursdays from 5:45pm- 8:45pm at the King Arts Complex, weekly beginning in September 2014 and extending through April 2015.
Q: Does the program cost?
A: No, the program is free for participants. People are more than welcome to donate towards the program at any time.
Q: What are the ages for the program?
A: The program is for both parents and children. Children must be school-aged (age 5 and older) to participate in the program.
Q: What days are the program?
A: The program is on Thursdays at the King Arts Complex from 5:45pm- 8:45pm.
Q: What activities will be doing during that time?
A: Families will have nutrition classes, cooking classes, learn about local organizations and programs, as well as do African Dance or some type of physical activity each week.
Q: Will my information be given to anyone else?
A: No, by you giving us your information is to express interests in participating the Family Time Initiative Program.
Q: Can I register with more than one child?
A: Yes, you can register up to 5 of your own children, that live in your household, as long as they are ages 5-18.
Q: How long is the program?
A: The first group for the program runs on Thursdays from September 11, 2014 to Jan 8, 2014, breaking as the Columbus City Schools breaks.
Q: Is there a deadline to register?
A: Yes, you must register by September 9, 2014 to participate in the program.
